The project I have been working on is part of the NCSY Israel Advocacy program. I was in charge of bringing the fundraiser to my region and seeing that we made the most money possible. This year, we are trying to raise money for boys in Israel who can’t afford Tefillin. This is important so that after their Bar Mitzvah, they can have the Tefillin so they can daven. I decided the best way to get people to work hard to raise money was to make it a contest between chapters. Everyone is working hard to beat their friends and is raising a lot more money in the heat of the competition. NCSY has been a big part of my life for over a year so I was glad to be able to connect it to the MZ Teen Internship. I can’t wait to see how much we raise and hopefully my initiative can inspire some of my friends. If you want to help out or donate, email me at jkaufthatsme@aol.com.

Raising Money and Awareness
“When I signed up for a trip to Israel, I expected that I would go, have some fun, see the sights – I never imagined that it would have such a big, lasting effect on me…My pure love for Israel grew exponentially in a month and I didn’t want to leave. Because I had to, I now want to make the time that I’m not in Israel full of my passion for my home and I want to make as many people as possible as passionate about their homeland as I am.”
