School Activity: Gilad Returns Home Four years ago, Shorashim's Yossi Nameri met with 3rd-5th graders to write letters to the parents of Gilad Schalit. On October 18th, the day Gilad came home to Israel, Yossi returned to the students to speak about the journey

 

 

“When the Shark and the Fish First Met” – The Gilad Schalit Story  Learn about the plight of Gilad Schalit and other compelling educational opportunities including, Artists for Gilad and "Big Jewish Ideas" like The Mitzvah of Pidyon Shvuyim (Redeeming of Captives).

 

 

 

Mabat Einecha – A Song For Gilad Schalit Listen to and discuss the song that composer Maya Raviv recorded with Aviva Schalit and how five Israeli radio stations dedicated to playing the song everyday at 2pm until the day that Gilad is released.

 

 

Explore an activity where parents and children were asked to complete  “When the Share and the Fish First Met” by illustrating and writing the last page of the book.

 

 

Discover the power of a picture with Nathan Fertig’s explanation of a photograph he took in Israel, and how it relates to the Story of Gilad Schalit.
